Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games Torch Visits Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame in Calgary
CALGARY: Today, day 34 of the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games Torch Relay, the Pan Am flame arrived in Calgary for a community celebration. The event was held on the front steps of Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame located at WinSport Canada Olympic Park. Visitors and Pan Am Games fans celebrated the Torch Relay with Pachi the Porcupine, Toronto’s Pan Am Games mascot, bringing the spirit of the Pan Am Games to Calgary.
Torchbearer Michelle Cameron Coulter, Honoured Member of Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame and Pan Am Games alumnus, passed the flame to Sydney Soloski, junior elite gymnast and 2016 Olympic Games hopeful who is currently a Grade 10 student at the National Sport School.
A special torch presentation also took place as Steve Wallace, Vice President of Brand Activation for the 2015 Toronto Pan Am/Parapan Am Games, presented Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame with an official Toronto 2015 Relay Torch. The torch will be included in Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame’s permanent collection.
